Building Bridges for Change: My Journey at Sedulous Collective CIC

Joining Sedulous Collective CIC as the Strategic Partnerships Director marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Driven by a deep commitment to social justice and the transformative power of collaboration, I am honoured to contribute to an organisation that aligns so profoundly with my personal values and professional expertise. As a Black, disabled Rastafari woman and community advocate, my life’s work has revolved around challenging systemic barriers and uplifting marginalised voices. Sedulous offers the perfect platform to amplify this mission.

My mission within Sedulous is to build bridges that empower communities and create lasting impact. Through fostering meaningful partnerships, I aim to address inequalities and ensure Sedulous continues to be a beacon for equity, inclusion, and social justice. My ultimate goal is to help Sedulous grow into a leading force in community development, creating systems of support that benefit generations to come.

Sedulous is not just an organisation; it’s a movement. Its values—Championing Lived Experience, Inclusion by Design, and Uniting for Collective Impact—resonate deeply with me. The team’s dedication to grassroots, community-driven research and commitment to decolonising traditional approaches to advocacy make Sedulous a unique and inspiring workplace. Its emphasis on amplifying unheard voices aligns seamlessly with my lifelong passion for social and economic justice.

In my role as Strategic Partnerships Director, I am tasked with forging alliances that align with Sedulous’s mission to tackle systemic inequalities. Whether it’s building relationships with funders, collaborating with government agencies, or connecting with community leaders, my goal is to secure resources and create opportunities that amplify our impact. My experience as the founder of Black Mama Earth Limited and my advocacy for the Windrush generation and Rastafari community have improved my skills in relationship-building, fundraising, and strategic planning—skills I now bring to Sedulous.

What excites me most is Sedulous’s potential to drive transformative change. I envision partnerships that go beyond transactional agreements, creating ecosystems of collaboration that uplift entire communities. By harnessing the power of collective action, I aim to help Sedulous become a catalyst for meaningful change, breaking down barriers and empowering those who are often overlooked.
