Elaine Brown

Lived Experience Consultant

Elaine Brown brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as a Lived Experience Consultant at Sedulous Collective CIC. With over five years of involvement in community research, Elaine has been at the forefront of initiatives that address the needs of communities often labelled as "hard to reach" in Lambeth, Southwark and across London. Her expertise spans research structure, planning, community engagement and training facilitation, enabling her to contribute meaningfully to Sedulous’s mission of empowering marginalised groups.

Elaine’s journey into community research is rooted in a substantial background in children’s social care. Early in her career, she gained invaluable experience working with individuals facing urgent and complex needs, honing her skills in empathy, inclusivity and patient listening. Transitioning into community research introduced Elaine to new methodologies and creative approaches, equipping her to tackle challenges with innovation and a focus on collaboration.

At Sedulous, Elaine plays a pivotal role in connecting networks to concerns, advocating for marginalised voices and using participatory methods to uncover and address systemic barriers. Her ability to navigate complex social dynamics and foster trust has been instrumental in driving change and improving accessibility for underserved communities.

Beyond her professional commitments, Elaine has a passion for creativity and advocacy. From leading a dance group for young people to chairing a biodiversity gardening group, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to fostering growth and development in others. Elaine’s love for lifelong learning, coupled with her curiosity and resilience, continues to inspire her work and drive her contributions to Sedulous.

With a strong belief in social justice and the transformative power of collaboration, Elaine is dedicated to creating spaces where communities can grow, heal and thrive. Her hands-on approach, coupled with her lived experience and professional insights, makes her an invaluable part of the Sedulous team.
